We love trying Filipino food so we were excited to find this ‘hole in the wall’. Unfortunately this place is not super friendly for those who are new to the cuisine; there’s a counter where you can pick and choose the food but nothing’s labeled. Thankfully, the lady was able to give us a brief explanation of everything available. We chose the three entree option with pancit noodles, bicon express and adobo chicken - all with garlic rice, as well as a side of lumpia. My critiques on the meal: • Garlic rice - flavor was good but a lot of the rice was dried out and crunchy from either sitting out too long or using two day old rice • Pancit noodles - lacked flavor, didn’t really taste like much, 95% noodles and not much of anything else • Bicon express - liked the flavor of the pork bits and the amount of spice but it had a pool of oil sitting on top • Adobo chicken - was good and loved the flavor but they only gave four small pieces We were saying how everything would taste so much better if the food was cooked to order, rather than bring batch cooked in the morning and left sitting out in warmers all day. The lumpia was semi cold and soggy :( We ended with a halo halo, which was the saving grace for this meal. Really yummy and big portion (I guess they have to for $13!) but it’s def one of the best halo halo we’ve had in DMV area. Would we go back? Most likely not but it was worth a try. We may check out the other locations in the future. Side comment: I went to use the restroom in the back and as I was going towards there, one of the worker men was coming out of the restroom. He saw me and started smiling sheepishly??? I was confused until I went in and saw that he had urinated but did not flush ……. super gross…..

I had the dinuguan and menudo with rice. It was delicious. The facility itself will make you feel like you are in the Phillipines for casual dining. Don't expect white table cloths and silverware.

If you want to have a Filipino Breakfast and would like to try it , this is the place to go . We have our breakfast this morning and the food is cooked fresh . The cook was the only one there first and she was very nice . The food taste good and hot . I love the Bicol Express and the Laing . And the Menudo , the meat is very tender . I took my friend who is new to Filipino Cuisine , He really loves the food here at Kamayan Filipino American Asian Cuisine . The place is clean and the restroom is well cleaned too. The only thing missing is they do not have coffee and fresh juice for breakfast . But they do serve other cold drinks.

This restaurant is a very nice and happy environment. I went with my family because we were in the area and the reviews looked very good aswell as the food. The very kind woman who was extremely patient was an excellent help with the food and ordering asking just the right questions. The food was also very tasty and flavorful. KEEP IN MIND they have certain foods already made the rest is on the menu is cooked after you order it. The photos look like it is dark because that’s just the exposure on my phone.

THIS IS THE SPOT! oh my goodness my friend and I stopped in here for brunch and the service was phenomenal Mrs () was awesome at making recommendations and even offered to cook us some eggs with our rice. The food was so tender and juicy you couldn't help but want to over eat. This is one of those rare gems you find amd have to tell everyone about because they do good food right with great service. The sausages are worth every penny. If you're in the area definitely swing by. It's the best shop in this market, I'm exceptionally proud they're able to keep the store so clean with the disgusting anime pavilion next door that's clearly very smelly and unclean and full of bugs.

So happy I found this gem while driving through the area. Nothing I miss more than good pandesal and sinigang (which they didn’t have but they’d a soup very similar). Wish they’d had sisig! Call ahead to see what they have because they don’t always have the full menu available. My friend who is pescatarian only had one option available. Their garlic rice was really, really REALLY good. Only criticism is that I was over charged for my pichipichi. I was charged $7.99 when the price was quoted as $5.99 when I asked how much it cost. Also my lumpia was served cold which was sad.

Great options. Delicious food. They have great combos and container prices. We took the food home and we’re all feasting!

Location

Welcome to Kamayan Fiesta Filipino Asian American Cuisine, a hidden gem nestled at 7700 Backlick Rd Suite B, Springfield, VA. This vibrant eatery aims to transport you straight to the heart of the Philippines while embracing Asian American culture at the same time. With an inviting ambiance, it’s perfect for those curious to explore Filipino flavors, although navigating the menu may require a little guidance for newbies.

As a food reviewer, I’m always looking for that authentic experience, and Kamayan Fiesta has its share of highs and lows. The bustling counter, enticingly filled with an array of dishes, beckons for you to create your own masterpiece—though be prepared for some unlabelled surprises. Customer reviews reflect a diverse range of opinions: while some patrons praise the flavors of dishes like Bicol Express and Adobo Chicken, others express disappointment over preparation and serving methods. The garlic rice, for instance, garnered mixed reactions; while its flavor was celebrated, some found it lacked freshness.

Many diners have fond memories of the restaurant’s halo halo, a traditional Filipino dessert that has become a beloved staple here. Highlighting Kamayan Fiesta’s culinary spirit, this refreshing dessert often steals the show, leaving guests with a sweet taste of satisfaction.

Don’t miss out on the cultural experience that comes with the cuisine. As Jhondie Abreu aptly puts it, the casual dining atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the Philippines. The charming staff, often described as kind and helpful, add a personal touch to your dining experience. They are eager to share the story behind each dish and guide you through your choices, ensuring your journey into Filipino flavor is both enjoyable and enlightening.

However, it's essential to keep in mind that freshness is key. Diners have commented on the impact of batch cooking, which can detract from the quality of some dishes. Cooking to order would elevate the experience significantly and enhance the rich flavors inherent to Filipino cuisine. Still, moments of bliss like enjoying a well-prepared menudo or savoring a perfectly rolled lumpia make Kamayan Fiesta worth considering for your next culinary adventure.

In summary, Kamayan Fiesta Filipino Asian American Cuisine is a charming representation of Filipino culinary culture. With a mix of stellar flavors and some room for improvement, it’s an establishment that’s worth a visit—especially if you’re seeking a taste of the Philippines in the heart of Virginia.
